Muhlenbergia porteri is the bushy grass, Opuntia valida is the cactus
Whoa! Looks like a black bear track, not a puma, and there was quite a trail of these in the lowest arroyo in the damp gravelly "soil"...I wear a size 9-1/2 shoe, so maybe this is too small for anything but a cub? Not sure. But I made it back without seeing any large omnivores, or getting mauled and eaten, so all is good!
View south, of moisture spilling over the Manzano Mtns - it rained 1"-2" yesterday on the E siude of the Sandia and Manzano Mtns, but nothing on this side where Abq is...ARRGH!
Opuntia camanchica & it's tunas (fruit)
